ADDIS ABABA, 2018- The delegates of the African Union Summit spent the day discussing the economic independence of African countries with the aim of curbing past and present exploitation by western European powers. More specifically, they discussed how they could gain economic independence and mitigate the risks of Western powers taking advantage of them.
Delegates presented a variety of resolutions dealing with issues including infrastructure, agriculture, transportation and transparency.
The infrastructure plans included many renovations and building of roads, which complemented the transportation plans.
The most effective solution seemed to be the transparency solutions that aimed to inform the public on all committee matters .MAny delegates, including President James Michelle of the Seychelles, presented transparency plans.
“We don’t have a problem with transparency; we’re actually one of the most transparent countries in Africa. We believe that we can use our methods and implement them in other African Countries,” he said.
Other very effective solutions included agriculture, for which delegates would reach out to farmers to help them improve their profits through trade and provide them with better working services. They intended to realize these goals partly through the founding of the Role Enterprise Company (REP), a multi-national corporation to be out launched out of Africa by 2064.
